So.....their main beef with our fans is the # car flags they see in and around Mobile or other parts of Alabama.
My advice to them is if it bothers them so much, move out of the state of Alabama or near its borders. Go somewhere that people aren't proud enough of their team to display it on their vehicle, clothing, headwear, etc. Just stay out of my corner of Missouri, because I've got enough garb on my car to offend a whole bunch of them!

Any time a team loses, their fan base usually comes out with a response that the opposing teams fans are "obnoxious." It never fails, especially when the teams are in close proximity. Part of that is just being a fan and having to accept that your team lost and you will just have to put up with fans of the other team celebrating for a while.
Although I have nothing against restaurant workers, it sounds like the original poster is possibly a waiter at an Olive Garden, so I'm not going to worry too much with his opinion.
By the way, this is coming from a fan base that has been routinely named as the most obnoxious fan base in the SEC for quite some time by many pundits, especially when you're playing at their place.

i am shocked at the Gator fans, most of the gator fans I know usually pull for us, cause we both have UT as a rival and they used to be a rival with the barn.
I find it funny how the barners are talking about "sidewalk alumni" listen to finebaum, some time and 90% of the barn callers never stepped foot on a campus. out of every 10 barners usually 3 even went to college let alone to the barn.
I am a sidewalk alum, went to UAB and Jeff state but still love the Tide. But to call out a fan base when the majority of their fans never been to any campus....
I know alot of "sidewalk" alum for the Tide, most went to college. My wife is a samford grad, my Boss memphis grad, another boss a Penn state grad, all Bama fans.... nope didnt go to TTown, but we went to college....

Yes, I'm sure there are Bama fans out there who are obnoxious, just like there are fans from every school that are obnoxious. I work with a huge Gator fan out here. We are not really friends, but talk football a good bit and always catch up with each other early in the season to share our excitement. I have been congratulating him on his team's success over the last few years. We went out to lunch the week before the SECCG last year, and I talked to him after the game and told him they had a great team, and wished him the best against OK. Wanna guess how that guy has acted this year? Not a word from him - nothing. Real classy, huh?
Good grief! It's hard for me to even read a message board like that one. Do people really need to start a discussion of how "bad" the other fans are?

my favorite part of the thread was the aubie who jumped in there and started whining. anytime i go to another teams board and they talk about playing bama, theres always a barn fan making the exact same type of posts that this guy made. they cant help themselves. they hate us more than they like themselves.

After seeing the Gator boards after the Prothro injury I don't have much good to say for their fans.

Meh, to me that just looks like a bunch of guys who are looking for a slight in everything. Many people fail to realize that their own demeanor has the greatest influence on being taunted, or not. If you (the royal you ) are an a-hole about your team at school, work, and/or among friends when your team is winning, expect the exact same treatment when your team gets its butt kicked in the biggest game of the season so far. Example, take one of the many arrogant texas fans that were on here (now quietly removed) when the NC game was announced, ppp, kept telling us how texas is unbeatable, is better than bama in every way, Auburn stopped our run game with 9 guys on the whole field, etc. If we beat texas, I would have no qualms about rubbing it in his face for the rest of the year.
Another example, I went to high school in SC. My best friend is an Ohio State fan, and he loved to tell everyone how amazing OSU was every year, how they were cheated out of the Texas game in 05, and how they were gonna destroy Florida in the NC game in 06 (said Florida had no chance, lol). So when OSU got their butts handed to them in both 06 and 07, I and all the Carolina and Clemson fans gave him heck (still do, actually. mwahaha).
So the point is your own actions generally determine the amount of smack talk you receive, and if you live in "enemy territory", accept the fact that somebody is gonna say something to you. These Florida fans are obviously still a little sensitive that the greatest gator team eva got pounded, and Tebow cried. And speaking of the increase in bama flags (in alabama, no less! shocker!); I never knew so many florida fans existed until 06. Talk about bandwagoners...
EDIT: Oh, and the way they just accept everything the Auburn fan says is hilarious. You have to suspend disbelief when you read that guy's stuff. I noticed that he is always jumping into the bama threads over there, to make sure the story on bama is kept straight (we cheat and pay off everybody). I'm amazed the REC hasn't eliminated him yet. How clever of him to thwart our empire!

Most Gator fans I've met cannot even tell you where Emmitt Smith played college football. They believe that football history started the day Steve Spurrier became the Gator coach.

My, that was certainly interesting. I can understand the hate and envy from the idjit barner but was really surprised when I read the same from the Gator fans.

What cracks me up the most is the Auburn fan. While we were down and they were doing very good a few years back, weren't they all that and more? Its amazing how blind people can be to there own fans acting that way, but how "horrid" it is when part of an opposing fan base does the same. I believe a word that fits is "hypocrite".

It looks like Florida might be getting a good dose of themselves and is finding out they don't like it.

I always detest, and just don't get, the whole "sidewalk alumni" or "they've never even been to the school" argument.
I wasn't blessed enough to have gone to the university. However, I grew up watching Alabama, and have been watching them play for 35 years now. That makes me as much of a fan as anyone.
In point of fact, I have been to Tuscaloosa (twice!, and plan on going through there each and every time I go back and forth now between Cali and home), and I'll put up the passion and pride I felt when I walked around campus that day against anyone's. Walking around Bryant-Denny and looking up at the front, watching where our boys walk every week, and then managing to actually get into one of the tunnels, walk out into the end-zone, just turn around in circles and just take it all in... it was amazing.
Screw 'em. I don't need to kick around other people's teams to make myself feel better about my own. :BigA:
